1064 liquor cases seized in third godown of wine contractor in marriage palace

AMBALA (SATISH HANDA): Panjokhra police station Ambala suspecting a foul smell in Joy Park Marriage Palace on Ambala-Naraingarh Road Ambala City during raid recovered 1064 cases illicit Desi and English wine in a store in the rear of marriage palace on Saturday and during interrogation with the owner of marriage palace Jaipal resident of Sector 7 Ambala City arrested by the police disclosed that liquor stocks were owned by the leading wine contractor of Ambala City Pradeep Mittal presently in Jail after he was arrested about a week ago when Panjokhra police station had raided his two godowns at village Mandaur near Ambala City and seized 9630 bottles fake wine and rum along, 300 cases when being loaded in a truck to be despatched to Gujarat as Alovera Juice besides huge stocks of raw material, empty bottles, labels and finished wine stocks in drums for smuggling to Gujarat and Bihar states as Alovera juice involved in illegal business since January 2020 in two godown hired on the fake name of Nikhil Patel resident of Gujarat state. Police arrested seven persons involved in this illicit business along with Pradeep Mittal and another prime accuse Gaurav presently all behind bars at Ambala central Jail.

Jaipal owner of Joy Park Marriage Palace told police that Pradeep Mittal had taken his godown on rent in the premises on March 31, 2020 to keep liquor stocks procured from distilleries in Haryana, Punjab, Himachal and A.P. Mohan Lal SHO Panjokhra police station told that Mittal had sought permission to keep stocks in a liquor vend near the marriage palace but had not taken permission to keep stocks without license or a permit from excise department to keep in godown inside the marriage palace premises, which were being smuggled to other states. He disclosed that police seized nearly 15000 liquor bottles during search. Information reveals, State Home Minister Anil Vij expressing deep concern over increasing cases of liquor smuggling has constituted an SIT to be monitored by himself and warned police to take stern action against all those involved in liquor and drugs smuggling. Information reveals that wine contractor lodged in the jail at present became unwell and admitted in Trauma Centre Civil Hospital Ambala City.
