117 criminal gangs busted, 20.46% drop in crimes against women recorded in Haryana

Haryana police launched several drives to arrest crimes in the state during current year. Director General Police Haryana Manoj Yadav while talking to media persons said that police busted 117 gangs involved in criminal activities in the state including thefts, robberies, dacoity, liquor & drugs smuggling and automobile lifting with effect from January 1 till June 30 this year. According to Navdeep Singh Virk Additional Director General Law & Order told that Special Task Force has been constituted to have a curb over increasing cases of crimes. He told that three gangs involved in dacoity, 11 gangs involved in robberies 43 gangs involved in thefts and 23 gangs involved in miscellaneous hard core criminal activities were exposed and sent behind bars in jails in this period and such drives would continue till criminal activities are completely wiped out from the state.

DGP Haryana Yadav claimed overall 20.46% decline in crimes against women as compared to last year in Haryana state. He said, rape cases has witnessed 18.18% fall with effect from January 1 till June 30 this year as compared to previous year in this period. Yadav said, police has been able to solve most of the cases during present year which include 99% in case of rapes cases, 85.33% kidnapping cases and 96.63% eve teasing cases were solved. Yadav said, in past six months Haryana police registered 4893 crimes against women cases including rapes, gang rapes, kidnapping and other serious cases as compared to 6153 cases registered in this period in 2019 and decrease of 1259 crimes was due to lock down declared in the state, he added.

Navdeep Singh Virk told media persons that on-line investigation in criminal cases is being updated in Haryana state and tabs will be supplied to all police investigation officers to get rid of papers, pens and files and have complete detail of case under investigation, which will also avoid tampering of important evidences in the case. Virk said, the number of cases registered under section 188 of IPC has witnessed drastic increase in past six months due to lock down declared in the state recorded nearly 4000 cases as against 110 cases registered in this period in 2019. Virk said that under Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & System introduced by the government in centre, reforms in police working in the states are being introduced when people would have most of police services available at the door to include universal identification system, to join jails database with police the network, availability of all datas regarding bale jumpers and offenders declared by courts on-line.  He disclosed that another 6000 PCR vans are being arranged for Haryana police possibly this year.

In a seminar ‘War Against Rape’ organised ‘Selfy With Daughter Foundation’ on Sunday at Chandigarh, most of the participants blamed there are different reasons for the rapes but vulgar sites are mainly responsible for increasing number of rapes and gang rapes today. It was first time in the history of Haryana state, two rape victims boldly attended the seminar and narrated their pathetic rape story accusing judiciary delaying such sensitive cases for a long time for one evidence or the other as such delaying justice to victims and demanded immediate punishment to rapists. Seema Samridhi advocate fought in support of famous Nirbhaya rape case in which five accused were sentenced hanging after several years and international documentary film maker Vibha Bakhshi were prime speakers in this seminar appreciating the role of foundation to hold seminar on such a vital issue.

Both Seema Samridhi and Vibha Bakhshi said that union government had imposed complete ban over exhibition of porn sites few years ago but failed to implement for a long time due to influential people never wanted to have ban over exhibition of such porn films for their self-vested interest. They demanded stern action by the government against display of such vulgar sites increasing crimes against females with immediate effect. Foundation convener Sunil Jaglan also highlighted state wise data of rapes cases in the country.  Most of the speakers blamed porn sites on TV responsible for spreading nudity and sex among youths demanding immediate ban over the same.
