he 12th Tribal Youth Exchange Programme concluded yesterday at Indira Holiday Home, Sector 24. The seven-day programme was conducted by Nehru Yuva Kendra Chandigarh, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, in collaboration with Ministry of Home Affairs from 4th Feb to 10th Feb. Around 220 tribal youth from the LWE districts of the states of Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand participated in the one-week programme in a number of activities related to youth development like Swatchh Bharat Abhiyan, tree plantation, visits to educational and historical institutes.
On 4th Feb 2020, the Hon. Mayor of Chandigarh Smt. Raj Bala inaugurated the programme and wished the students a fruitful stay in the city. The tribal youth travelled around the city beautiful, witnessing the scenic beauty of Sukhna Lake, Rock Garden, Rose Garden etc. They also got a chance to be a part of the 15th TFT Winter Theatre Festival, 2020 at Bal Bhawan. The youth got a chance to interact with sh. V.P. Singh Badnor, Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh. Other dignitaries of Chandigarh who graced the 7 day event included Sh T.C.Nautiyal, IFS, conservator of forest, Smt Harjinder kaur, Former Mayor, Sh. Arun Sood, Former Mayor , Councilor etc.
The programme was very successful in increasing the exposure and knowledge of the Tribal youth .Sh. Rakesh Popli, Director Tourist, the chief guest of the closing ceremony on 09th February encouraged the youth to study further and never lose hope.
