Ambala : A recent survey at Ambala revealed that lakhs of residents in the area are being served diseases including diarrhoea, jaundice, acidity and few others harmful for body through door-to-door supply of contaminated water in more than 12000 water campers by large number of water plants claiming supply of pure drinking water to residential as well as commercial consumers in the area. Complaints are often received as regard supply of contaminated water in Public Health Department water taps in few areas.
According to a recent District Public Health Department Lab. report the samples of drinking water supplied door-to-door in water campers collected from nearly 13 water plants in Ambala district on May 6, 2022 have been failed and water was found containing bacteria spreading diarrhoea and jaundice and unfit for drinking. Surprisingly, in-spite of the fact samples of water supplied by 13 water plants in Ambala district which include three each at Ambala City and Ambala Cantt , two each at Shahzadpur and Naraingarh and one each at Chaur Mastpur, Barara and Saha have been rejected and found harmful for human body as such district health department as well as district administration was informed to take action against water plants serving diseases through supply of contaminated water but no action has been taken against these water plants although nearly three weeks have passed.
Information reveals, there are 45 water plants in Ambala district supplying more than 12000 drinking water campers to residents in the area daily but none of water plant has obtained no objection certificate from district health department or district public health department and supplying contaminated water playing with the life of innocent people. When water samples of water plants were failed in the lab, Executive Engineer Public Health Department had written a letter to SDM Ambala to take immediate action or close down water plants supplying contaminated water with immediate effect but to no result. Information reveals that when notices were served to water plants, they started mixing excessive quantity of chlorine in water which according to health department experts is also harmful for human body.
Anil Chouhan Executive Engineer Public Health Department told media persons that as many as 15 water samples collected from Public Health Department water taps in different areas in twin city were also found unfit for drinking by the testing lab for which immediate action was taken to check leakage in water line and rectified by the department. When talked to Dr Kuldeep Singh CMO Ambala, he told that fresh samples are being collected again from water plants whose samples were rejected along with few other water plants in the district and in case water found contaminated these water plants will be sealed without any further notice.
