1372 private unrecognized schools to be closed down in Haryana

State government Haryana has identified 1372 unrecognized private schools, most of them functioning since past over a decade having good reputation in the area as compared to government schools. As per Punjab and Haryana High Court directions, all unrecognized private schools in the state are to be closed down. The count has demanded a status report from state education department Haryana which was forwarded to District Education Officers for submitting status reports sof such unrecognized private schools. Earlier, the staus report was demanded by the High Court on 4th September 2012 against a writ moved in the court and now High Court has agains directed state education department to submit record of all such unrecognized private schools in the state as regard facilities provided to the students, the number of students getting education, number of teaching staff, provision for the rooms and availability of playground and in case the school is closed what is the provision for admission of students studying in such schools in nearby government schools within a week’s time. The court directed education department in the state  in case the private schools are unable to provide required facilities to the students and refused recognition by the state education department action should be taken to register cases against the school management.

According to information, the district-wise number of private unrecognized schools in Haryana state are maximum in Hisar having 168 schools functioning without recognition for one reason or the other followed by 153 schools in Fatehabad, 142 schools in Rohtak, 135 schools in Panipat, 108 schools in Kaithal, 102 schools in Kurukshetra, 105 schools in Gurugram, 80 schools in Sirsa, 47 schools in Panchkula, 46 schools in Rewari, 43 schools in Palwal, 42 schools in Jind, 39 schools each in Ambala and Faridabad , 31 schools in Karnal, 29 schools in Yamunanagar. 24 schools each in Bhiwani and Jhajjar, 15 schools in Nuh and 2 schools in Narnaul. However, there is no private unrecognized school in the state at Sonipat.
Meanwhile, President of Federation of Private Schools in Haryana State Dr Kulbhushan strongly condemned government action not to recognized large number of private schools functioning in the state since past many years. Recently, he met Kanwar Pal Gurjar state education minister and refused to close down such schools having far better reputation as compared to government schools in the state. He strongly condemned dictatorship attitude of ruling government in the state. He said that the performance of private schools is far superior than large number of government schools in Haryana state still government wants to take action against such schools.
