16000 NHM staff in Hospitals observes strike

Medical services in government hospitals in Haryana have been disturbed due to nearly 16000 employees having declared strike in hospitals after doctors strike has been finisted since the state government has accepted most of their demands. National Health Mission (NHM) employees working in government hospitals remained on strike demanding regularisation of their services and providing them with service security, social security, economic security, ex-gratia as per Haryana Civil Service Rules and facility of cashless treatment in hospitals as applicable to permanent employees till the formation of policy. The strike was called by the NHM Karmachari Sanjha Morcha, Haryana of the state. Those who participated in the protest included doctors, Ayurvedic doctors, staff nurses, ANMs, ambulance drivers, Lab Technicians, operators and others.

Leaders of the NHM employees Vipin Sharma State President and General Secretary Jitender Vats of association said, their demands should be accepted immediately keeping in mind the services given by NHM employees for 25 years and following the guidelines given in the financial year 2013-14, and a policy should be made for them and they should be regularised. They said, till the time the policy of regularisation is made such employees should be provided service security, social security, economic security, ex-gratia as per Haryana Civil Service Rules. NHM employees had  meetings with CM’s Head Chief Secretary Rajesh Khuller and  Additional Chief Secretary Dr Amit Aggarwal had assured to look into the matter but nobody took care during indefinated call for strike by the workers after 26th July adversely affecting health services in hospitals.
