KAITHAL (Satish Handa): Police arrested seven persons of a gang with all educated members between age 22 and 38 at Kaithal in Haryana. Most of the members of gang were graduate also having engineering, MBA and MSc degrees and few of them having own motor garage. The gang members were lifting luxury cars from Kaithal, Yamunanagar, Pehowa, Fatehabad and Delhi and selling these vehicles in Haryana after changing theirengine and chasis numbers. During police remand, police recovered 18 stolen cars most of them Maruti Swift brand of value worth over Rs One crore.
Among those arrested by police were identified as Shubham and Gurmeet both residents of Karnal district, Naresh Kumar resident of Jind, Kuldeep alias JP resident of Kaithal district, Vishal and Sandeep both residents of Hisar district and Praneet Pal resident of Dehradun in Uttaranchal. During police remand arrested youths admitted their crime and police trying to find out total number of vehicles stolen by the gang so far and where these vehicles were sold by them. During preliminary investigation arrested youths disclosed that they started this profession to become rich in a short period .
Lokinder Singh SP told media persons that during remand police recovered five stolen vehicles from Naresh Kumar and Kuldeep, eight stolen vehicles from Vishal, two stolen vehicles from Praneet Pal, one stolen vehicle from each Sandeep, Shubham and Gurmeet. He said, police busted the gang when police arrested Shubham from Karnal on July 14, 2021during search of a vehicle stolen from Kalayat in Haryana who during investigation in the case disclosed names of other companions in the gang and police arrested five of them immediately whereas one of the gang member Chetan is sill absconding and police search is going on.
Police investigation revealed that Vishal and Sandeep are running a motor garage at Hisar, Naresh and Kuldeep are running a motor workashop at Kaithal, Praneet Pal running a garage at Dehradun in Uttarnchal whereas Shubham, Gurmeet and Chetan were lifting vehicles parked at different places. SP told that police searching Chetan yet absconding.
