2 Killed, 1 missing and 15 others residing in adjoining building injured due to boiler blast in Kundli factory in Haryana

Sonipat: Rescue operation started when two workers died, one was reported missing after the mishap, suspected buried under the debris after boiler explosion in a factory manufacturing ‘Kattha’, named Shree Ganesh factory on Narela Road in Kundli when the workers were busy in the work during late night. Two workers sustained severe burn injuries were identified as Gulab originally hailing from Arriya in Bihar and Brijesh also hailing from Bihar. One of the workers named as Sukhdev Pandit was also reported missing after the mishap, suspected buried under the debris during the mishap. Fire fighting workers also found nearly 15 monkeys lying dead while removing debris due to the blast. The boiler suddenly exploded late at night in which many others also received injuries and are undergoing treatment in the hospital, police said on Thursday that the workers were busy in the factory when the boiler suddenly exploded.
According to the residents in the area, the blast was so severe that an adjoining residential building also collapsed in which as many as 18 persons including three children of age six months, two others of age about 8 to 9 years sustained severe injuries while sleeping due to explosion in the adjoining building.

 According to information, a few other buildings in the nearby area also got damaged. Locals rushed to the factory on hearing the sound of the blast and found the factory premises were burning and badly damaged. On getting information, a team from Kundli police station arrived after an hour, and three fire tenders also reached the spot and a rescue operation was launched immediately. According to a police officer the injured were taken to Raja Harish Chandra Hospital in Narela, where doctors declared two workers brought dead. Several others were admitted in the hospital with burn injuries and are currently undergoing treatment, he said. Meanwhile, the residents of the area have alleged that the district administration is not providing them necessary assistance.

Information reveals, there have been two cases of boiler blast earlier in factories in the area in the past sometime. A factory worker was killed in the blast in a liquor factory last week and the body of the victim was recovered in agriculture farms at a distance of more than 300 meters. According to police information, the owner of the factory in which the explosion took place is still missing.
