Haryana witnessed alarming rise in criminal cases including theft, robbery, murder, stabbing, suicide, kidnapping, rape, extortion, ransom demand, drug smuggling, automobile theft and on-line cheating in the year 2018.
People blame “sick police system” responsible for fast increasing crimes. A team of journalists conducted a late night survey in Ambala Cantt and observed there was no police deployed at police barriers declared highly sensitive points in and round the town.
The main gates of several police stations and police posts were found closed during late night. The situation was even worst at the busy Ambala Cantt railway station received terrorism threats to blast several times in recent past and from where more than 300 trains pass daily.
Surprisingly, there was no police vigil at any of seven platforms on the railway station except few policemen found sleeping at a police booth on platform no. 1. Media team also visited highly sensitive Indian Oil terminal on the national Highway No. 1 but there was no police patrolling in the area.
Ambala district police record reveals that as many as 3544 criminal cases were registered in the year 2015 at various police stations in the district, the number of cases increased to 3906 in 2016, which witnessed further increase to 4256 cases in the year 2017 and the situation turned grim when police recorded nearly 4100 criminal cases at various police stations till 30th October 31st in 2018 and most of the cases remained unsolved.
Twin city Ambala was rocked due o 15 sensational murder cases including three double murder cases till October 31, 2018 but police failed to solve most of them. In first 10 months in the year Ambala police registered 25 uicie cases including two cases in Ambala central jail in which prisoners hanged them selves.
As many as 20 cases were registerd in this period under section 307 IPC. Alarming rise in crime against women in Ambala district in the year 2018 reported. Rape and molestation cases have witnessed nearly 100 percent increase in past one decade as such women police stations were set up in every district in the state in past over a year.
As per the state child protection commission chairperson Jyoti Bende widespread girl child abuse in Haryana is a serious problem.
According to State Crime Bureau record, as many as 1320 cases were registered in various districts in the state in six month from April to September in the year 2018, which included 179 cases in Panipat, 165 cases in Faridabad, 119 cases in Hisar-Hansi, 88 cases in Gurugram, 75 cases in Karnal, 64 cases in Sonepat, 55 cases in Bhiwani, 51 cases in Fatehabad, 50 cases in Rohtak, 47 cases in Jind, 46 cases in Narnaul, 44 cases each in Ambala and Jhajjar, 42 cases in Kaithal, 39 cases in Sirsa, 36 cases in Mewat, 35 cases in Yamunanagar, 29 cases in Palwal, 26 cases each in Kurukshetra and Panchkula, and 14 cases in Charkhi Dadri districts.
She disclosed that out of 1320 cases the alleged accused were sentenced imprisonment in 284 cases by fast track courts and alleged accuse were acquitted in 445 cases and in nearly 20% cases the alleged accuse made an appeal in the higher court and he remaining cases are yet under trial in the courts.

When most of the children expressed shyness and were hesitant to say anything in this regard but during counselling nearly 300 minor girls of class VI to X disclosed that they suffered molestation by the opposite sex but didn’t disclosed any one.
However, few minor girls in this age group on the condition of anonymity admitted that they were sexually molested by the teenage colleagues, their teachers and relatives including senior citizens of age group 60-70.
Ambala district crime date in the year 2018 till October 31, nearly 33 murder cases as against 18 reported in the previous year. Police registered 25 suicide cases in this period, 300 vehicle theft cases of value worth 1.82 crore with nearly 51% recovery in stolen vehicles.
As many a 115 snatching cases re registered by Ambala police till October 31, 2018 of them 62 cases were solved. Women Police Station Ambala City registered 32 rape case3s in this period and 90 cases were registered under minor sex exploitation. Aastha Modi SP Ambala expressed deep concern over fast increasing on-line cheating cases on social media which according to police cyber crime cell as many as 2275 such cases have been registered till October 31, 2018 in Haryana state, of them majority of the cases could not be solved. She advised not to disclose ATM number to anyone on telephone to avoid cheating.
