Mewat area in Haryana state comprising of nearly 40 nearly 40 villages is functioning as a hub for cyber crimes since past few years where several rackets involved in criminal activities are having links with other states in the country. According to Haryana state police information, nearly five lakh mobile phone sim have been blocked which were being used for criminal activities in Haryana state which cheated 66784 innocent people in the state amount worth Rs 300 crore in past some time. Information reveals that recently Union Home Minister Amit Shah had a meeting with senior police officers in Haryana state on February this year on this vital issue when state police told that they have already identified 402 criminals involved in cyber crimes in the state cheating large number of people across the country while sitting in a room.
According to Haryana police information as many as 2165 cases related to cyber crimes have been registered this year with effect from January 2023 so far in which 1065 cheats have been arrested by the cyber cell police in the state with the recovery of amount worth Rs 47 crore. Information also reveals that decision has been taken to set up a cyber cell in the state to take immediate action against those involved in cyber crimes. Information also reveals that most of the persons mostly living in rural areas usually do n take action after been cheated.
According to a cyber crime accuse arrested in Mewat area told that cyber criminals usually keep large number of mobile sim and after committing a crime change sim card immediately from the mobile phone. Police investigation in few cases also revealed that a cyber crime cheat possesses over a dozen or more sim on a single mobile phone illegally, whereas not more than six sim are permissible on a mobile phone. Meanwhile, Arun Singla SP Nuh in Mewatt told that a massive search for cyber criminals in the area is going on since past about a month which proved beneficial to locate few cyber criminals as well as illegal sim being used in the area and action is being taken to verify the same with the help of International Mobile Equipment Identity Number to identify cyber criminals mushrooming in the area.
