Addressing media at Chandigarh P.K. Aggarwal, Director General Police Haryana told that under special campaign launched against drug smugglers during year 2022 Haryana police has achieved satisfactory results in which 24 ton drugs were recovered from the drug smugglers, besides illegal properties of value worth Rs 31.45 crore were attached by the government. State government also demolished illegal properties of large number of drug smugglers in the state in order to wipe out drugs from the state completely. He disclosed that 3626 cases under NDPS Act were registered by various police stations across the state which include maximum number of 587 cases were registered in Sirsa district, followed by 349 cases registered in Faridabad district, 273 cases registered in Karnal district, 240 cases registered in Fatehabad district, 220 cases registered in Kurukshetra district and remaining in other districts. He disclosed that during year 2021 police in the state had registered 2583 cases under NDPS Act. He said process to attach illegal properties of value worth Rs 12.23 crore owned by drug smugglers is under process.
DGP Haryana told that Narcotics Control Bureau has been constituted in Haryana state to control drug smuggling as well as drug addiction among people in the state, which is a serious issue at present since large number of youths residing in urban as well as rural areas are being addicted to drugs in the state. He said, Special Task Force will assist Narcotics Control Bureau to wipe out drug smuggling from the state completely.
