Export of handloom products manufactured in Panipat has witnessed 25-30% increase in demand during corona epidemic outbreak now getting handsome orders from United States of America and other European countries, especially for cotton bath mates and mink blankets. Its first time, Panipat textile industry received handsome orders for blankets from Brazil in past couple of months. Most of the manufacturers of cotton bath mates are receiving orders from United States America and European countries switched over their requirement from polyster made Chinese product to cotton bath mates, since most of the traders as well as consumers in other countries have now decided to replace Chinese brands with the textile goods manufactured at Panipat in the country.
According to Panipat textile exporters, they expect 25 to 30% growth in the sale of textile products this year likely to increase to Rs 15000 crore from Rs 12000 crore in past years. They said, home furnishing polyster products manufactured in China has no match in quality and price in much demand but traders as well as consumers across the world now do not want to sell or purchase products having Chinese labels anymore. President of Panipat Industrial Association Preetam Singh Sachdeva also manufacturer of blankets told that it is a real challenge as well as opportunity for Panipat mink blanket manufacturers to get orders first time from Brazil this year, which would not only inject energy to large number of textile goods manufacturers at Panipat turned sick during lock down period but also provide employment opportunities to people in the area.
President of Dyers Association Panipat Bhim Singh Rana said, there are nearly 300 dyeing units at Panipat, of them over 100 units had to close down their shutters and large number of dyeing units had to face severe sickness in the absence of orders. He said, Panipat textile industry involved in manufacturing textile and handloom products including carpets, mink & polar blankets, yarn, rugs, bath mates, curtains, cushion covers, bed sheets and other furnishing goods doing annual business worth Rs 90000 crores has now started getting orders also from domestic markets.
Both Sachdeva and Rana told that Panipat textile industry expecting good orders, which would increase sources of employment in the area. They said, there is acute shortage of labourers, especially skilled workers in dyeing as well as knitting sectors shifted to their native places in U.P, Bihar and M.P during epidemic outbreak. They said, Panipat textile industry needs minimum 50000 labourers immediately in spinning, yarn and dyeing industry in the town.
