25000 litre ENA seized at Ambala was being carried to Chandigarh to manufacture liquor

In-spite of death of 47 persons due to consuming spurious liquor at Panipat, Sonepat and Faridabad in Haryana few months ago, after investigation by   Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the state government police arrested few persons involved in manufacturing spurious liquor. Ambala police   along with excise department busted four units preparing fake liquor in past couple of months and smuggling to other states including dry states Bihar and Gujarat and few other states U.P, Uttarkhand. Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Delhi causing huge revenue loss to state government.

Ambala police during surprise checking of vehicles on the National Highway No. 1 on June 26, 2021 at Ambala Cantt  recovered 25000 litre  Extra Neutral Alcohol (ENA) in a tanker despatched from M.P to Chandigarh to manufacture liquor whereas the consignment note was for supply of sanitizer. Police arrested the driver of vehicles and started investigation by constituting an SIT. According to information, police department Ambala along with district excise department has busted four units in rural areas adjoining Ambala involved in manufacturing fake liquor in past couple of months.

Preliminary investigation reveals, ENA is being illegally supplied from M.P and Mumbai to manufacturers preparing spurious liquor illegally at Rohtak, Yamunanagar, Ambala, Panipat and Palwal even available through on-line sale. whereas ENA is available to sanitizer manufacturers having license from State Drug Department or State Ayush Department strictly supplied to these manufacturers by the refineries against permit issued by state excise department. Information also reveals that most of sanitizer manufacturers are using a chemical strictly banned by state health department Methyl Alcohol instead of ENA easily available through India Mart.

Sources reveal, 75000 spurious quality fake liquor bottles of value worth Rs 3.75 crore can be prepared from 25000 litre ENA seized by Ambala police recently. Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij has constituted an SIT led by Ms Bharti Arora IGP Ambala range directing to take stern action against all those involved in illegal sale of ENA and using Methyl Alcohol to manufacture sanitizer and spurious quality liquor.
