2,56,589 cases resolved in National Lok Adalat held in 22 Districts and 34 Sub-Divisions in a day

Haryana State Legal Services Authority (HSLSA) organized its National Lok Adalat of the year under the guidance of Justice Arun Palli of Punjab & Haryana High Court and Executive Chairman, HSLSA all over in the State of Haryana on 11th May 2024. According to an official spokesperson the National Lok Adalat was organized in 22 Districts and 34 Subdivisions of the state in which 2,56,589 cases were taken up about Civil, Criminal, Matrimonial, Bank Recovery, Cheque bounce etc. including the cases of Permanent Lok Adalats (Public Utility Services) working in the ADR Centres. The purpose of holding National Lok Adalat is to facilitate a platform to settle public long pending disputes amicably of amount over Rs 110 crore.

Hon’ble Justice Arun Palli also Executive Chairman HALSA supervised the whole operation through iConferencing along with Shri Surya Partap Singh Member Secretary, Shri Akshdeep Mahajan Joint Member Secretary, Haryana State Legal Services Authority and other officers from the High Court and the supporting staff of HALSA. They also interacted with the Benches as well as with the parties and gave guidelines to the Benches. Justice Arun Palli while interacting with said that Lok Adalat is an effective alternative dispute resolution method for ensuring quick and final consensual disposal of cases binding on the parties without incurring any extra cost or fees. He said,  Lok Adalats not only settle pending disputes or582 cheque bounce cases out of total 1802 cases disputes going to arise between parties but it also ensures social harmony as parties to dispute settle their cases amicably to their full satisfaction.

The Financial World also visited the Lok Adalat session held at Ambala presided by District Session Judge  Kanchan Mahi where 12619 cases out of total number of 24184 cases were resolved in which conflicts of value Rs 1 crore 21 lakh and 90 thousand were solved in seven benches, which included 658 cases of bank recoveries out of total number of 808 cases, 34 criminal cases out of total number of 72 cases, 241 cases of electricity department disputes out of total number of 401 cases, 582 cheque bounce cases out of total number of 1802 cases, 7 cases of vehicle accident were resolved  out of total number of 23 cases, 5 out of 8 cases related to labour disputes were resolved, 146 cases of marriage disputes were resolved out of total number of 356 cases, 444 civil cases out of total number of 3157 resolved, 3149 revenue cases were resolved out of total number of 3284 cases , besides other miscellanuous 7030 cases were amicably settled out of total number of 13,566 cases.
