270 cheating cases registered in a year at Science City

AMBALA (Satish Handa): According to district police information more than 270 cheating cases including large number of on-line frauds were registered at various police stations in Ambala district during the previous year 2021. The year 2022 brought no relief to the residents in the district and situation further worsened during current year 2022 in which ‘Science City’ Ambala recorded as many as 28 cheating cases during the first two weeks in month January this year as against 16 cases reported in this period during year 2021. The number of snatching cases, especially purse snatching from females, too, witnessed drastic increase in past one year.

Jashandeep Singh Randhawa SP Ambala has made an appeal to residents in the district to beware of fast increasing cases of on-line frauds making attractive announcements for financial gains on line, announcing prizes and seeking information as regard bank account posing as bank employee related to ATM card, credit card, bank limit and on-line sale offers for the sake of fraud. Randhawa said, all such type of calls should be intimated to police immediately in order to trap cheats in police net with the help of police cyber cell. Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij talking to media persons recently said cyber police stations are being set up in all districts in the state to stop fast increasing on-line crimes.

Information reveals, a racket selling fake medicines to treat cancer patients  through a inter-state network was very active in Haryana state cheated large number of patients suffering from cancer disease for amount worth Rs 5.5 crore in past some time and five cases were registered against alleged accused and police arrested two persons involved in cheating and search for the arrest of remaining persons of racket is still going on. Another high profile cheating case was recently registered at Shahzadpur police station in Ambala district against Managing Director of Naraingarh Sugar Mill at Banodi near Ambala allegedly involved in frauds of value worth Rs 98 crore arrested by police presently undergoing police remand fr investigation of several frauds alleged against him.

According to SP Ambala, there are few gangs functioning in twin city Ambala cheating people in the name of cryptocurrency, running gambling houses, smuggling liquor and supplying drugs. Such criminals will not be spared at any cost, Randhawa warned.
