281 cases registered against drug smugglers in a month in Haryana

Taking charge as Cabinet Home Minister Anil Vij had assured while talking to media persons that he would try to bring reforms in police stations in the state and speedy police action on complaints received from public and bring them immediate relief. He said, among his priorities include wiping out drug smuggling from Haryana state. Vij had a meeting with all senior police officers on December 21 in which DGP Haryana was also present. According to state police data, in past on month as many as 281 cases of drug smuggling were registered at various police stations in the state under ‘Operation Prahar’ launched about a month ago after Anil Vij took charge as home minister in which 319 drug smugglers were arrested from whom police recovered 5.899 kg opium, 2391.35 kg poppy husk, 9.972 kg charas, 262.37 kg ‘ganja’, 2.124 kg smack, 870 gm heroin, 83446 intoxicated tablets, 2628 intoxicated capsules, 335 intoxicated injections and 1612 bottle intoxicated syrup.

Haryana Home Minister after reviewing future plans to wipe out drugs completely in the state and make Haryana drugs-free told media persons that he has plans to constitute a separate Haryana Narcotics Bureau within a year in the state. He told that there are plans to take stern action against illicit liquor smuggling with change in law against those involved in illicit liquor business taking action to attach their properties.
