State detective department Haryana has identified as many as 314 very dangerous spots including T-points on the roads, prone to frequent accidents due to the fog condition during present winter season, which include highest number of 29 spots in Hisar district, followed by 24 black spots inYamunanagar and 23 black spots in Nuh district. At the saame time among the districts having lowest number of black spots on the roads in Haryana state are Panipat district having 6 black spots, Gurugram district having 7 and Palwal district having 8 spots.
Information reveals that the department has suggested to develop road safety committees in every district in the state to curb the fast increasing number of road mishaps in the state in which large number of accident victims either lost their lives or were injured. The department has directed Public Works Department and National Highway Authority of India, Municipal Authorities and the Forest Department to undertake safety measures or get repair of damaged roads to avoid mishaps on the roads.
It has been observed that the majority of road accidents are caused due to lack of care while driving, over-speed, driving under the influence of liquor and driving without wearing helmet or seat belt and various other reasons. There are many other reasons that cause mishaps on the road including missing of the signal board at turning points, white ‘patti’ or yellow reflector light and radium tape on roadside trees.
