34 ATM robberies reported in 60 days in Haryana

According to state crime record as many as 34 cases of robbing bank ATMs were reported in past 60 days in Haryana state in which amount worth lakhs of rupees was robbed in 18 cases registered at Sonepat, Charkhi Dadri, Rohtak, Kurukshetra, Mohindergarh and Jhajjer, Karnal and Ambala districts, whereas in 16 cases the robbers failed to rob money after tampering machine or remove ATM machine. Information reveals that six cases of robbery attempts were registered by the police each atSonepat and Charkhi Dadri in the state. Manoj Yadav Director General Police Haryana disclosed that a gang of ATM robbers from Mewat in Scorpio car involved in ATM thefts was seen active in ATM robberies in the state. He told that state police is trying to arrest the gangs involved in ATM robberies and succeeded in arrest five members of a gang hailing from Mewat allegedly robbed State Bank of India ATM at Rohtak, besides also arrested nine ATM robbers three each at Jhajjer, Karnal and Sonepat districts with the help of policre cyber cell in recent past some time. In many cases of attacks on bank ATMs, the robbers failed to damage ATM machines with gas cutter and have to flee empty handed.
Out of 18 cases of ATM robberies reported in Haryana state in past two months in which robbers were successful in robbing cash include 4 cases in Sonepat district, , 3 cases each in Jhajjer and Charkhi Dadri districts, 2 cases each in Rohtak and Kurukshetra districts and one case each in Jind, Mohindergarh, Karnal and Ambala districts. According to police records, attempts to rob bank ATMs foiled in 16 cases in past 60 days in the state, which included 3 cases each at Kaithal and Fatehabad, 2 cases each at Sonepat and Charkhi Dadri and one case each in Rohtak, Jind, Mohindergarh, Karnal, Yamunanagar and Ambala districts where in most of the cases robbers failed to damage ATM machine and cash chamber with gas cutter. According to information, some of the banks suffered heavy loss were State bank of India, UCO Bank, United Bank of India, Punjab and Sindh bank and HDFC Bank. Mohit Handa SP Ambala recently had a meeting with the managers of all banks in the district directing to get repair defective CCTV cameras installed in the ATMs and appoint security guards at all ATMs remain open during night to avoid mishaps.
