38 operating fake call centre in Haryana arrested

Gurugram (SATISH HANDA): Cyber crime team led by three police inspectors on a clue raided a fake call centre functioning on the first floor of plot no.26 at Udyog Vihar Phase-I Gurugram late night and arrested as many as 38 persons including two organizers identified as Abhinav   resident of village Khedi Hojdar Pur in Jhajjer district and Shantnu resident of Rohini Kalan in Delhi, besides two team leaders identified as  Sandeep Singh resident of Kapadheda and Himanshu resident of Chhoba in Delhi along with 34 other workers including nine females. Allegedly cheating and black mailing people on-line.

The raiding team during raid recovered 27 laptops, 44 mobile phones and amount worth Rs 1.70 lakh from organizers of fake call centre. All arrested were produced in the court and the organisers as well as team leaders were remanded to police custody for five days and remaining arrested workers were sent to judicial custody at Bhondsi Jail in Gurugram. Seized laptops and mobile phones were sent for examination of data. According to Asstt Commissioner Cyber Cell, arrested organizers and tem leaders during police remand admitted running fake call centre since past over five months to extract money by cheating people making 600 to 700 mobile phone calls daily

Meanwhile, Commissioner Police Cyber Cell Aastha Modi made an appeal not to respond to any suspected telephone call cheating people with attractive offers for gift schemes, approval or recovery of bank loan, asking about bank information and threatening to release nude photographs  on social media. She said, in case of receipt of such telephone calls Cyber Cell should be informed immediately.
