4 including SHO declared offenders in Kharkhoda liquor scam

On the report of SET, four persons including a former SHO at Kharkhoda in Sonepat district already suspended by Haryana state government Inspector Jasbir Singh, inter-state liquor smuggler Bhupinder Singh a resident of Chandigarh, his brother Jitender and two others Satish and Sanjay Singh were booked. However, prime accused Bhupinder Singh had surrendered before Kharkhoda police station after police raided his Chandigarh residence and other alleged accuse are yet absconding and investigating team declared them offenders and likely to announce prize on their whereabouts as well as attach their properties. Court granted anticipatory bail to an employee of excise department Sunil Kumar.

Huge quantity of liquor of value worth crores seized by excise department in large number of police raids during smuggling and kept by excise department in godown owned by Bhupinder Singh at Kharkhoda under heavy police guard was stolen and sold during lock down period in the state when all liquor shops were closed by the government by Bhupinder Singh, Jasbir Singh SHO Kharkhoda and Jaipal an ASI.. Moreover, it was observed that Bhupinder Singh blessed by high profile persons used to smuggle illicit liquor from a wine distillery in Punjab, used to refill the same in costly liquor bottles and smuggling to Delhi and other states in which his brother Jitender yet absconding was also involved.

Meanwhile, Mohd Khurshid Alam State officer Haryana Wakf Board said that the Wakf land was allotted to Kamla Devi mother of inter-state liquor smuggler Bhupinder Singh on 33 years lease hold basis at Kharkhoda where a godown was constructed by Bhupinder Singh where illegal liquor business was going on. He said, according to Islam religion business related to liquor, drugs and other antisocial activities was not permitted on Wakf  land as such decision has been taken by Haryana Wakf Board head office Ambala Cantt to get vacated  godown, cancel lease agreement and demolish all constructions immediately. He said, action will be taken to demolish building as soon as letter received from Wakf head office.
