A survey reveals that a patients suffering from cancer disease dies in every two hours in Haryana state. Similarly, on an average 13 persons suffering from heart disease die in the state every day. Whereas, the total number of deaths reported due to road accidents daily in Haryana are higher recorded as 15 persons succumb to their injuries during road mishaps and 30 persons seriously injured every day generally due to driving vehicles in high speed, travelling on unfit vehicles, driving under the influence of liquor and lacking security measures on the roads having nearly 1662 black spots on link roads as well as highways in the state.
According to information, nearly 6.5 lakh condom vehicles unfit to ply on roads are moving in Haryana state which cannot be registered and are illegally running on the roads causing death of innocent people. A recent study reveals that more than 75% road mishaps are caused due to over speed and faulty driving. Maximum numbers of road accidents usually take place during night between 1 am to 3.30 am and among victims 54% include of age below 35. It is observed most of the accident victims die due to delay in treatment.
While having a look at past five years’ data as regard number of road mishaps, deaths and injured due to accidents obtained from state police record 9825 road accidents were reported till 30th October 2022 in which 4805 persons died and 8857 sustained serious injuries in Haryana state. Whereas during year 2021Haryana state witnessed 10049 road accidents in which 4943 persons died and 9595 persons injured. Information reveals that during year 2020 the state had 9506 road mishaps in which 4631 person lost their lives and 8826 persons injured. According to police records 5057 persons died and 9362 persons injured in 10944 road accidents in Haryana state during year 2019. The year 2018 had registered 11238 road mishaps in the state in which 5118 persons died and 10020 persons sustained injures. During year 2017 state police registered 11258 road accident cases at various police stations across the state in which 5120 persons lost their lives and 11258 persons injured.
During a recent audit conducted by experts various lapses were observed in as many as 218 roads having 6227 kilometer distance in Haryana state when it was observed that there are 255 bottleneck points, 377 black spots, 3223 illegal cuts, 104 dark points and 223 sudden changes in roads on these routes.
