Chandigarh: Haryana police under Operation ‘Aakraman-10’ on Sunday with the help of 1199 police teams comprising of 5543 policemen arrested 653 criminals in 369 FIRs registered against them allegedly involved under sections of Indian Penal Code: Gambling Act, Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, Excise Act and Arms Act. a spokesperson of DGP Haryana office said, the raids started on May 19 morning and continued until late evening in which a total of 24 FIRs were registered under Arms Act and seven pistols seized resulting in arrest of 12 individuals, besides, 3.3kg ganja, 51g heroin, 11.3g smack, and 2.4kg charas were seized. Haryana Police had conducted Operation Aakraman-10 to clamp down on criminals, illicit elements, and drug traffickers simultaneously prior to present Lok Sabha polls in the state to be held on 25th May.
The operation was held by the state police to arrest notorious criminals and most-wanted miscreants, including cyber criminals and proclaimed offenders. According to police information, as many as 17 hard core criinals and a most wanted criminal, six cyber criminal, 38 bale jumbers avoiding arrest since a long time and criminals having registered against them 199 FIRs under Excise Act with 108 persons trapped in police net from whom 174 bottles English wine, 2266 bottles Country liquor, 330 bottles illicit liquor and 2430 litre ‘Lahan’ to prepare Desi liquor was seized. Police also arrested 12 persons involved in gambling from whom amout over Rs 2.25 lakh was recovered.
