8307 hard core criminals, 44 offenders arrested in 4239 FIRs during 2024 in ‘Operation Aakarman’

Chandigarh: Director General Police (DGP) Haryana Shatrujit Kapoor while addressing media persons  said that in order to to control increasing crimes in the state, ‘Operation Aakarman’ by 13,610 police teams comprising of nearly 68,000 policemen was launched 10 times during year 2024, in which state police department was able to arrest 8307 hard core criminals pushed behind bars, 44 most wanted offenders having award for their arrest as well as large number of bale jumpers in the state in as many as 4239 FIRs registered in various police stations. DGP said that during 2024 state traffic police took stern action against the drivers violating traffic rules and fined 23,387 vehicles on roads during the year in the state.

DGP Kapoor disclosed that  272 FIRs  were registered under Arms Act in which police seized 168 illegal pistols and arrested  112 persons against whom 272 FIRs were registered. He said, total number of 877 FIRs were registered during the year under NDPS Act and arrested 441 drug smugglers in which police recovered 745 kg 452 gm ganja, 3 kg heroin, 337 kg 25 gm smack and huge quantity of intoxicated tablets, capsules and injections from more than 441 accused.

DGP Kapoor said, during the year cyber police in the state busted several gangs involved in cyber crimes and arrested 42 accused cheating through their network in the state, 697 hard core criminals involved in serious cases and 708 bale jumpers arrested by the state police department. DGP disclosed that  in special drives during year 2024 police in the state registered 2443 cases under Excise Act against liquor smugglers in which 1105 persons were arrested  from whom 20461 bottles English wine, 40828 bottles country made liquor, 4658 bottles beer and 31490 liter ‘Lahan’ was seized.
