In order to wipe out crime from the state, Haryana police have launched ‘Operation Aakarman’ campaign in the state and arrested 998 anti-social elements in a day which included drug smugglers, as well as all types of hard core criminals wanted by police. The operation started in the morning by 970 police teams comprising of 6333 police personnel and continued till late night conducted raids for the arrest of criminals and seized large quantity of drugs, illegal arms and registered 785 cases under IPC, NDPS, Excise and Arms Act as told to media persons by P.K. Aggarwal Director General Police (DGP) Haryana. He said, the operation will continue in future also till the state becomes crime-free.
DGP said, police was able to have satisfactory result and seized 52 pistols, 24 live cartridges, 8 kg ganja, 168 gm heroine, 402 gm sulpha, 4 kg opium, 5 kg poppy husk and intoxicated drugs during the raids. He told that 137 hard core criminals involved in criminal activities wanted by the police including 33 bale jumpers were also arrested by the police during the day.
When talked to Shrikant Jaghav Additional Director General Police Ambala range also holding the charge of State Narcotic Control Bureau in Haryana disclosed that four drug smugglers were taken into custody by the police in Ambala police range during operation and cases under NDPS Act were registered against them from whom police recovered 41.96 gm heroine and 20.25 gm opium, He said during raids in Kurukshetra district police was able to seize 41.46 gm heroine and 20.25 gm opium. Jaghav told media persons that Ambala police registered as many as 28 cases under excise act and arrested 28 persons from whom recovered 302 bottles illicit liquor. He said, Kurukshetra police also recovered 302 bottles illicit liquor and 80 litre ‘Lahan’ registering 21 cases and Yamunanagar police arrested 11 persons and recovered 112 bottles illicit liquor.
ADGP Ambala range told that 53 cases were registered in Ambala police range under ‘Operation Aakarman’ against gambling and satta players which included 41 cases registered in Ambala district alone in which 44 accused were arrested by the police and amount worth Rs 63040 was recovered from them. He told that police in Ambala range during raids arrested 177 accused wanted by police in 142 cases registered under NDPS Act allegedly supplying drugs in the area and recovered from them 41.96 gm heroine, 992.25 gm opium, 80 litre ‘lahan’, 19.55 gm smack, 4 country made pistols, 3 live cartridges, 646 bottles illicit liquor, currency notes of value Rs 85980 from the gamblers and a car. Police also arrested 23 absconding criminals and 6 bale jumpers in the range.
