A Digital Payments Mela for Telecom Retailers was organised on Thursday in Chandigarh by Office of Controller of Communication Accounts, Department of Telecommunications, Punjab Circle Chandigarh at Tagore Theatre, Sector 18, Chandigarh in coordination with Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh for retailers of telecom service providers.
The Chief Guest for the Mela, Shri K.K. Yadav, Commissioner, MCC-cum-CEO Smart City Chandigarh said that digital payments are essential for easy life promoting cashless transactions to save time and energy which can be used for some more productive and constructive purposes.
Shri Bharat Singh of National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), the umbrella organisation for all retail payments in India participated in the event and gave guidance presentations, live demos, hands-on-session to educate the participants about its various modes of digital payments/Apps such as Bharat QR, BHIM, BHIM Aadhar etc.
Besides leading telecom service providers such as Airtel, Reliance Jio, Vodafone-Idea, Tata Teleservices and connect Broadband leading banks SBI and PNB and UIDAI have put up stalls for the guidance of participants.
Assistant Controller of Communication Accounts, Department of Telecommunications, Sushma Negi welcoming the guests spoke about the importance of Digidhan Payment Melas being organized by the Department in the region. Joint Controller of the Department Shilpi Sinha presented a vote of thanks. Rakesh Gupta, Controller of Communication Accounts, Department of Telecommunications was also present of the occasion.
Similar Digital Payments Melas are scheduled to be held in Jalandhar on Sept 27, Amritsar Oct 4 and Ludhiana Oct 9.
