Monitoring System App launched to curb liquor smuggling, sale during LS polls

District administration Ambala on April 11 launched Liquor monitoring System App to curb smuggling and sale of illicit liquor during present Lok Sabha polls in the district. Sharandeep Kaur Brar DC Ambala also deputy election commissioner told media persons that a team of officers would keep a track over liquor produced and sold in the manufacturing units as well as all liquor vends in the district. She also visited all units personally along with police force, which would keep checking over illicit supply of liquor round the clock at various barriers near the factories and liquor vends. Brar directed the liquor manufacturing units not to indulge in illegal practice to avoid stern action. She told that the detail of liquor sale at the works as well as liquor vends in the district would be uploaded on the monitoring App and inspection teams would have videography at all manufacturing and sale points to avoid illegal practice. She made an appeal to people to inform at Toll Free No. 1950 in case of an illegal practice.
Mohit Handa SP Ambala told media persons that strict measures are being taken in view of hike in liquor smuggling in the area observed in past few days after announcement of Lok Sabha polls in the country. He disclosed that police was able to seize 1800 cases of illicit liquor of value worth over Rs 45 lakhs containing 5044 bottles English wine, 21744 Desi liquor and 780 bottles beer being smuggled in two trucks near Saha in the district without having permit or a license. Handa disclosed that CIA Staff-I Ambala police caught two trucks at Baldev Nagar Ambala City carrying illicit liquor and a car near Lalkurti Bazar Ambala Cantt carrying 25 cases English wine in past couple of days. Handa announced reward to those giving clues about about smuggling and illicit sale of liquor as well as drugs in the district during election period and assured that the name of informer would be kept secret.
