Mumbai: Playback singer Benny Dayal is all praise for Shaan, Neeti Mohan and Salim Merchant, who are his co-judges on singing reality show “The Voice India”, saying he admires them.
Benny will next be seen as a coach on the upcoming second season of singing reality show “The Voice India” alongside the trio.
“They are all really cool and focused musicians, like Shaan for instance is very charismatic when it comes to his singing,” Benny told PTI. “Neeti is the cool-girl on the block. She is not only a great performer but she is also a great human being and Salim Merchant.. he is one of the few musicians I look up to and admire in the industry,” he says. The “Badtameez Dil” singer found the concept of the show “The Voice” appealing that he immediately said yes to be part of it which will go on air from today on &TV channel. According to the 32-year-old singer “The Voice” is different from the other singing reality shows on the television. “In the other shows the judges first have a face to face interaction where they get to know the contestant and then judge them on their performance. In our show we are firstly coaches and not judges, secondly we first have blind auditions where we don’t know who is singing and only when we turn our chair we know the face behind the voice for which we have pressed the buzzer for.” When it comes comes to judging Benny will be looking for a voice that appeals him the most. “The first and foremost thing is the voice, then it’s the great pitching, a unique vocal tone and especially unpredictable singing. Like if I get that one moment when the most unexpected note hits my ear, there is nothing that can stop me from pressing the buzzer,” he adds. — PTI
