Lock down has adversely affected seasonal coolers-fan as well as once famous mixi industry at Ambala this year. Neeru Vadehra president Haryana Vyapar Mandal in a memorandum submitted to chief minister Haryana through Aseem Goel MLA demanded immediate relief for manufactures of coolers-fan and mixi in the town since this seasonal business has been completely finished this year since all manufacturing units as well as retail showrooms had to down their shutters due to lock down declared by the government. Vadehra said, in spite of lock down most of the entrepreneurs in this business has distributed salaries to their staff on humanity ground, deposited GST to government as per rules and remitted loan instalments in the bank in-spite of no relief from the government when entire country is facing epidemic outbreak.

Vadehra said, summer season has already started, but the sale of coolers-fan and mixis has witnessed ‘Go Down’ due to ‘Lock Down’ in-spite of the fact unsold stocks of value worth crores of rupees are lying dumped in the godowns of manufacturers and stockists. According to manufacturers of coolers-fans huge quantity of components including pump sets, cooler bodies, pads and miscellaneous accessories used to manufacture coolers and fans were procured by them well in advance in the months January and February prior to peak season starts in the month April for this seasonal business for two to three months.

Vadehra reminding old scenario told that the town known as Mixi town was having over 350 units in past manufacturing mixis, juicers, fans and components in the town supplying goods across the world but as a result of lack of government support and high rate of sales tax in the state this industry was severely affected and reduced to only 35 to 40 units manufacturing mixis at present. Vadehra further suggested, permission should be granted to small scale industrial units and retail showrooms having strength up to six to eight persons to remain open between 9AM to 5 PM maintaining social distancing to save the collapsing industry.
