On the eve of May Day on May 1, 2020 Anju Bala convener of Centre of India Trade Unions (CITU) one of the leading national level labourers union founded in 1970 in the country while talking to media persons said that in-spite of fact the country has witnessed 73 years of independence the labourers are being exploited by industrialists as well as government and most of them are working like a bonded labourer with unsecure future living like a foreigner in own country and deprived of both ends meal for them as well as for their families.
Anju Bala expressed deep concern over large number of labourers because of unemployment since trade and industry has been closed down due to lock down declared by the government making large number of workers jobless due to corona virus epidemic outbreak in the country as well all over in world. She said, its unfortunate lakhs of migrant labourers from other states have already left for their native home towns after the closure of their industries either on foot or on their bicycles in the absence of availability of transport due to lock down.
Anju Bala expressed deep concern over government announced to increase the prices of petrol and diesel, bus fares and duty on market committee likely to increase the prices of all essential commodities at the time when people are facing the terror of corona virus making large number of labourers hungry. She expressed concern over governments ruled in the state so far all neglected labourers in the state merely used them only making attractive fake assurances at the time of elections. She said, on the eve of ‘Mazdoor Divas’ CITU has decided to fight against exploitation to labourers as well as system.
