Drug business on hike at Ambala turned as hub for drug smuggling

Ambala (Satish Handa): In-spite of all efforts by district police department, drug smuggling business is flourishing at Ambala situated at the junction of several states Haryana, Punjab, Himachal, western U.P and Chandigarh known as hub for drugs smuggling in North. A survey reveals that over 30% youths residing in rural as well as urban areas in the state have become drugs addicted.
Abhishek Jorwal SP Ambala told media persons  that police has arrested large numbers of drug smugglers, suppliers  at Ambala in past sometime and an inter-state drugs central room has been constituted to stop smuggling. He  disclosed that Ambala district police has arrested 157 persons in 132 cases registered under NDPS Act with effect from July 2019 till June 2020 and seized huge quantity drugs including charas, heroine, ganja and intoxicated tablets, capsules and injections.
According to Jorwal, police recovered  146 kg poppy husk, 7.800 kg opium, 3.79 kg charas, 103.437 kg ganja, 1.223 kg heroin and smack, 522 gms sulpha, 6731 intoxicated capsules, 89385 intoxicated tablets, 1910 intoxicated injections and 3.450 gm loose intoxicated drugs in this period. He said, those giving information about drug smugglers will be awarded by police department and the names of informers kept secret.
