During investigation by Special Task Force Rohtak, two arrested employees of automobile registration department in SDM office at Mehan in Rohtak district Anil vehicle registration clerk and Sombeer computer operator admitted that they had destroyed nearly 150 files having old records of registered vehicles under a conspiracy to allocate these registration numbers again to newly registered stolen cars. According to STF Inspector Satish Deswal, police has already recovered 32 luxury cars most of these stolen from Delhi and sold with new registration numbers of 15 to 20 years old vehicles after changing their engine and chasis numbers in SDM Meham office in Rohtak district. Information also revealed that a private typist sitting outside SDM offices used to prepare fake documents of all such vehicles.

The alleged accuse during two days police remand admitted that earlier the registration of vehicles was done by manual system on the basis of particulars in file as such they destroyed all old files to wipe out all records and inserted the same registration numbers in computer system to allot these registration numbers to these stolen vehicles for which they were collecting heavy ‘Suvidha Shulk’ According to Deswal, STF demanded another 183 files from SDM office and were able to get only 50 files from arrested accused.

Meanwhile, CIA Staff Sonepat police has arrested two members of a gang identified as Naveen alias Sonu resident of Jatola kingpin in the gang lifting luxury cars who disclosed stolen as many as nine vehicles. During preliminary investigation Sonu admitted that car in which they were travelling was stolen from Dwarka Road, Vasant Kunj Guugram in February 2019 and they changed its engine as well as chasis number after scanning from a a car parked at Ford showroom registered in the name of Maneesh Deendyal resident of Ahmedabad in Gujarat state
