9372 bottles illicit English wine being smuggled in gas tanker seized

HISAR (Satish Handa): After two sensational liquor smuggling scams reported at Kharkhoda and Samalkha in Haryana state in recent past, Anti Vehicle Test Unit of police succeeded in busting another gang involved in smuggling illicit liquor through chain system and seized 9372 bottles English wine in 781 cases including 711 cases McDowel and 70 cases Royal Challenge brands of value between Rs 30 to 35 lakh being carried in a gas tanker having Nagaland registration number plate. Police team suspecting fake number plate stopped the vehicle at Bhanu Chowk and during search recovered illicit wine cases inside the tanker. A case was registered against the driver Kishnma Ram a resident of Badmer and registered cases against him under Cheating and Excise Act and seized illicit liquor stocks. Arrested driver was produced before duty magistrate Hisar on Sunday and remanded to police custody for three days.

Inspector Nar Singh told that during police interrogation Kishna Ram driver disclosed that wine stocks were lifted from Samalkha in Panipat district and Jundla in Karnal district and the gas tanker was handed over to him at a hotel between Panipat and Karnal through Chhotu known to him and an amount worth Rs 1.40 was settled with him to give delivery of smuggled wine stocks at Jodhpur in Rajasthan on the address to be intimated to him on Watts App. He disclosed that Chhotu was continuously in touch with him on mobile phone after every 50 to 100 km on the way giving him instructions. Police investigation officer told that seized wine stocks were having manufacturing date as July 18, August 5 and August 6, 2020 manufactured by United Spirit Ltd – a unit of Global Spirits Ltd Samalkha and Haryana Liquors Limited Jundala (Karnal). According to police information, a truck driver Sombeer was also arrested at village Choudhariwas carrying1350 bottles liquor few days ago to be delivered at Jhumpa border being smuggled to Arunachal Pradesh in chain system..
