Report: Rs 345 crore spent over fighting COVID-19 in Haryana

The Financial World on the information of state health department Haryana and district health department Ambala in a study found that amount worth over Rs 345 crore has already been spent over fighting COVID-19 with effect from March 28 till September 23, 2020 in Haryana. Information reveals, more than 1.11 lakh persons were reported suffered from corona positive in the state. According to information, there are nearly 12263 beds for active patients at COVID centres against nearly 22000 patients and state health department expressed worry over increasing corona positive cases in the state in past sometime after lockdown was lifted.

While having a look at the expenses incurred by the state health department due to epidemic outbreak in the state having nearly 2.83 crore population, it was observed that amount worth over Rs 282 crore has already been spent over treatment of patients on an average Rs 26355 spent over on each corona positive c patient. According to information, state health department spent Rs 117 crore on purchase of safety products including PPE kits, face masks and hand gloves (include Rs 5.42 crore on three-layer face mask, Rs 3.76 crore on N-95 face mask, Rs 5.76 crore on hand sanitizer, Rs 33.93 crore on PPE kits and Rs 4.40 crore on hand gloves) and medicines for the treatment of patients, Rs 13 crore spent over purchase of equipments including ventilators, amount worth Rs 63 crore was spent over sending people to their native places by trains, buses and on their foods. Information reveals that nearly 60% corona positive patients are on Home Isolation at present and according to experts there is immediate need for increase of nearly 3000 beds in the hospitals in Haryana state.

Talking to media persons state health minister Anil Vij told that government is trying its best to provide maximum facilities to Corona patients and increase number of beds in the hospitals. He said, there is a proposal to start three Critical COVID Care Centres of capacity 100 beds each for serious patients and health department focussing on Home Isolation for which health teams has been created to provide facility to patients at their home to check blood pressure, temperature with oxygen facility if required at their residence. Vij disclosed that over 16 lakh suspected corona positive cases has been examined at 14 government laboratories and 150 mobile teams in the state. According to health department information amount worth Rs 130 crore has been spent by health department, Rs 90 crore spent by Medical Research Education Department, Rs 40 crore spent towards additional allowances to doctors, Rs 63 crore spent over social responsibilities and Rs 22 crore allotted to deputy commissioners in the district for essential expenses.

While having a discussion with Dr Kuldeep Singh CMO Ambala district for a study on Corona Trend in the district, he told that with effect from March 28 till September 23 this year as many as 75 patients suffering from corona lost lives, of them over 40% were already suffering from sugar and 31% suffering from heart problems (cardiac vascular disorders), 10% suffering from gastro intestinal disorders, 9% suffering from respiratory disorders, 4% suffering from genetic urinary system disorders and remaining suffering from anaemia, blood cancer, muscular disorders and drug addiction. Among those defeated by Corona included 23 persons between the age 55-64 years and 21 persons between age 65-74 years. Among those 75% died due to COVID-19, nearly 90% patients were residents of urban areas, remaining living in rural areas. CMO told that among those defeated Corona were 73% males and 27% females in the district.
