Toys manufacturers focusing on production after decision to ban toys imported from China

 As a result of consumers in our country not accepting goods manufactured in China, toys manufacturers in the country has now started focusing on production of quality toys in the country. Ministry of Industry has decided to encourage manufacturing of toys in the country and proposal for developing several clusters in the country has been finalised. Information reveals, government has also recommended complete ban over import of toys manufactured in China after clash at Indo-China border and already launched a cluster for manufacturing toys in Karnatka state with investments worth Rs 5000 crores in coming years. Information also reveals, there is proposal to develop similar type of clusters to manufacture toys in the states Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Assam and at Varanasi and Greater Noida in U.P at an earliest.

According to information, nearly 85% demand of toys in our country is being fulfilled by toys imported from other countries, which include nearly 90% toys imported from China which would now be adversely affected due to increase in duty on imports by 200% announced few months ago. A survey reveals that most of the traders as well as consumers in our country now are not prepared to sell or purchase goods manufactured in China. According to available data, total requirement of toys in the world has been identified nearly Rs 6.7 lakh crore and toys of value worth Rs 13000 crore were imported from China in our country during year 2019, which were expected to increase up to Rs 24750 crore by the year 2023.

Toys manufacturers in India told that as a result of increase in import duty and circumstances against imports from China, good results are visible since past few months during the period of corona epidemic outbreak in the country when large number of toys manufacturers in India earlier used to import toys from China and selling in their brands has started manufacturing quality toys in the country and are getting good response from traders, as well as buyers and cooperation expected from government has decided to include the role of domestic manufactured toys in new education policy to benefit indigenous toys manufacturers.
