PANCHKULA (Satish Handa): During hearing of a case on the complaint of Haryana Poultry Farms Association against Deputy Commissioner Panchkula ordered killing of poultry birds in large number of poultry farms at Raipur Rani and Barwala one of the biggest poultry farms belt in North in order to avoid spreading bird flue, Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed Haryana government to stop killing poultry birds. The association alleged, 166128 poultry birds having no fever in five poultry farms in Raipur Rani area were killed on the orders of Deputy Commissioner Panchkula causing heavy financial loss to poultry farmers now demanding compensation by the state government.

Poultry Farmers Association challenged in a writ moved to High Court said that 59 teams of Animal Husbandry Department killed poultry birds without investigating that these are suffering from disease in order to save pollution in the area, which included 1728 birds killed at Siddharth Poultry Farm, 38196 birds killed at Narender Poultry Farm, 59933 birds killed at Naveen Poultry Farm, 50271 birds killed at Sunil Poultry Farm all at Raipur Rani and 16000 birds killed at Nature Poultry Farm at village Ghanouli. The owners of these poultry farms demanded immediate reimbursement of losses incurred by them in this regard. Punjab and Haryana High Court directed Deputy Commissioner Panchkula to stop killing poultry birds with immediate effect.
