Prashant Kishor, a political strategist, announced that he needed a ‘temporary’ break from public life. In order to accomplish this, Kishor has written to Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh to inform him that he will not be able to take over as the latter’s senior advisor.
“In view of my decision to take a temporary break from an active role in public life, I have not been able to take over the responsibilities as your Principal Advisor,” the poll strategist wrote in a letter addressed to the Punjab Chief Minister. “I request you to kindly relieve me from this responsibility.”
He thanked the CM for considering him for this position.
Kishor, on the other hand, stated that he has yet to make up his mind about his next steps. The political strategist also expressed gratitude to Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh for considering him for the job of main advisor in his letter.
It was suspected that Kishor was behind the reunification of the party’s warring sections in Punjab, as well as laying the groundwork for a united opposition front in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The resignation has not been confirmed by the CMO. The development had been anticipated since Kishor announced that he would stop strategizing after the West Bengal elections. He had not visited Punjab since then, but he had recently met Amarinder in Delhi.
Following a spectacular victory against the BJP in the recent assembly elections, the TMC renewed its contract with Kishor’s company, the Indian Political Action Committee, or I-PAC, till the next Lok Sabha elections in June.
Kishor, on the other hand, announced that he had resigned from I-PAC and that his team would continue to act independently. Kishor was soon seen talking with leaders from various states.
Manipur, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Goa, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Gujarat are among the states that will have assembly elections in 2022.
