The management of Maruti-Suzuki company presently manufacturing nearly 19 lakh cars every year at its plant at Manesar in Gurugram district is now going to set up another plant in Haryana state to manufacture cars in 800 acre area and Suzuki motorcycles in 100 acre area for which selected 900 acre areas at a prime location in IMT at Kharkhoda in Sonepat district developed by HSIIDC. The final decision was taken in a meeting between the senior management of Maruti-Suzuki company and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khatter and Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala also holding the charge of industry department in the state.
Anurag Aggarwal Managing Director HSIIDC told that Maruti-Suzuki company is going to shift a part of manufacturing unit from their existing manufacturing plant at Manesar to proposed extension plant at Kharkhoda to manufacture cars and motorcycles. The land at Manesar was procured by Maruti-Suzuki company years ago was purchased at most competitive rates. Information reveals, HSIIDC is selling land at IMT Kharkhoda at the rate of Rs 14000 per square meter, whereas Maruti-Suzuki company is insisting for special incentive on the price of land and the matter is yet under consideration.
Sources reveal, in case Maruti-Suzuki company set up its second extension unit at Kharkhoda there is no possibility for shifting their existing Manesar plant to Gujarat state as rumours falsely spread by Congress General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala sometime ago during a public addressing that Maruti-Suzuki company is going to shift their Maneasr plant to Gujarat state from Haryana, which was refused by Dushyant Chautala who said, new plant set up by Maruti-Suzuki will provide employment opportunities to large number of people in the state.
