NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court India ,bench of three judges led by CJI N.V Ramana took a suo motu Cognisance of the Lakhimpur Kheri violence, where 9 people including 4 farmers were killed. The case has been listed for hearing in the next 24 hours.
The Supreme Court of India took suo motu cognizance of the matter after there was a major uproar over Lakhimpur Kheri violence and a letter was also written to the Chief Justice by two lawyers from Uttar Pradesh.
In the letter, they asked for a CBI investigation that should go under the supervision of the Supreme Court. Similarly, two advocates had also moved the Allahabad High Court.
Meanwhile, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath government alleged that opposition parties including Samajwati Party leader Akhilesh Yadav and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi in a joint conspiracy wanted to inflame riots in Uttar Pradesh.
State Minister Suresh Raina also made the allegations in a statement on Wednesday on the arrival of Priyanka and Rahul Gandhi in Lakhimpur to meet the deceased families.
