The first virtual library in Haryana launched in Ambala college

AMBALA  (SATISH HANDA): The first virtual library in Haryana was launched by at the library of Arya Girls College, Ambala Cantonment. This achievement was done under the guidance of Principal, Dr. Anupma Arya addressed media persons and students were also made aware about the use of virtual library. This library was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Dr. Hukum Singh, Controller of Examinations, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra whereas the Guest of Honor was Dr. Ashu Shaukeen, Chairperson, Department of Library, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra and also Dr. Paruthi Retired professor from Government College.

Anupma Arya proudly said, it is the first virtual library of Haryana and congratulated Dr. Priya Sharma, Librarian for her contribution in this achievement and said that digital library is the demand of today's time since our country is fast becoming a digital India and considering the demands of the time, a virtual library was created in this college and prove to be very beneficial for the students through various types of books available online to students also provide help in education for those students who are unable to buy books as these books can be read for free through virtual library and at the same time environmental protection will be possible due to protection of paper resources.

Dr Arya said that the library is an unlimited store of knowledge, all that is needed is to read, to embrace and I have always imagined that heaven will be a kind of library. Dr. Priya Sharma told that library has been divided into different parts having links to general and reference books are provided in the first part. Inspirational books in the second part. The third section provides links to important e-resources, such as DHE Portal, Encyclopedia, P.G. Pathshala, Open Books National Digital Library. Students can use these links as required. In the fourth part, PDF links of religious books and magazines are given,

 Dr. Hukum Singh, Controller of Examinations, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra congratulated the Principal saying that it would help the students to get education. While addressing students, he said that the virtual library is available at any time and provides instant access to resources. It has no physical limitations and modern information from all over the world can be obtained which will help the students to achieve the goal and move forward. In this program, Dr. Ashu Shaukeen, Chairperson, Library Department congratulated the Principal and the Librarian for setting up the Virtual Library and said that it is a very commendable work through which many students will be benefited. In the same program, footprints of the college which contain the activities of the college were also released.The Chief Guest visited the Poster and Model Exhibition organized by the Department of Physical Education.
