Haryana government introduces subsidy on cultivation of Dragon fruit

Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khatter has approved proposal for attractive subsidy on production of Dragon fruit plants in much demand in export markets all over the world, presently being produced in few countries including Thailand, Vietnam, Israel and Srilanka. Dragon fruit plant does not require much quantity of water for irrigation of the crop as well as rain or superior quality of soil. This fruit generally weighing between 300 to 400 gm each earn handsome profit in the market and possesses highly nutritive contents like anti-oxidant, fibre, vitamin C and also helpful to fight diseases like diabetes, heart diseases and cancer.

Additional Chief Secretary Dr Sumit Misra told media persons that in order to boost plantation of Dragon fruit plants Haryana state government has introduced attractive subsidy on cultivation of Dragon fruit plants as Rs 1.20 lakh each acre cultivated land to be paid as Rs 50000 each acre crop plant cultivation area and Rs 70000 each acre area for irrigation of plants in three instalments  as Rs 30000 to be  paid  during first year, Rs 10000 to be paid during seconds and third tear respectively.Dr Misra told that the detail of subsidy on plantation of Dragon plants is available on poeral  ‘Meri Fasal Mera Biora’ and those farmers to avail subsify can registered themselves on Horticulture Department websitehttphortnet.gov.in
