Punjab Vigilance nabs peon red-handed taking bribe Rs 12,000

Amritsar, August 19 -The Punjab Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, has nabbed Amritdeep Singh, peon, posted in the office of ADA, PUDA Bhawan, Amritsar red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 12,000. The search for absconding co-accused in this case SDO PUDA Vijaypal Singh is going on.

Giving information in this regard, a spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau (VB) said Amritdeep Singh, peon, PUDA has been arrested on the complaint of Saurabh Bhatia from Sushant Lok, Gurugram, Haryana. He further added that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the above-mentioned SDO was demanding a bribe of Rs 12,000 from him in lieu of issuance of No Objection (NOC) for selling his plot located at New Pal Avenue, Amritsar.

The spokesperson informed that after verifying the facts and evidence in the complaint, a VB team arrested the peon Amritdeep Singh red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 12,000 in the presence of two official witnesses. The said S.D.O. could not be arrested as he was not present at the spot and raids are being conducted to arrest him.

He added that a case has been registered against both the accused under sections 7 and 7-A of Prevention of Corruption Act at VB police station Amritsar. Further investigation in this case is under progress.
