SGPC President Dhami meets Bapu Surat Singh

Amritsar, August 25 – Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Harjinder Singh Dhami today met Bapu Surat Singh at DMC Hospital in Ludhiana, to know about his health.

Under the struggle for release of Bandi Singhs (Sikh political prisoners), Bapu Surat Singh is protesting for a long time.

On this occasion, Advocate Dhami said that justice is not being done with the Bandi Singhs lodged in Indian jails for three decades, and despite being in elder condition, Bapu Surat Singh is struggling for their release.

Appreciating the determination, belief and courage of Bapu Surat Singh, Dhami said the SGPC affirms his struggle and expresses commitment to continue the efforts initiated for the release of Bandi Singhs.

He  said that the SGPC and Bapu Surat Singh have the same intention regarding the release of Bandi Singhs and all parties which are active for this Panthic affair are respectable. He said the governments are deliberately inattentive on this issue of releasing Bandi Singhs, but the Sikh Panth (community) will continue the struggle until justice is obtained.

Meanwhile, Bapu Surat Singh honoured SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami for his Panthic services.

However, Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa who is a civil rights and political activist had been involved with various political struggles related to Sikhs in Punjab. Currently he is on a peaceful hunger strike in protest against prolonged detention of Sikh political prisoners.
