Staff in Haryana jails facing challenge due to large number of hard core criminals including Kashmiri youths arrested while throwing stones on security forces and damaging public properties in Kashmir valley arrested, locked in Jammu-Kashmir jails has been shifted to jails in Haryana state. Haryana state government has deployed senior jail wardens, staff inside these jails and Central Reserve Police Forces (CRPF) in as well as outside these jails in order to maintain law and order. Information reveals, maximum number of criminals locked in Jammu-Kashmir jails have been shifted to Bhondsi jail Gurugram, Neemika jail Faridabad, Sunaria jail Rohtak and central jail Ambala already packed with prisoners and facing shortage of security staff.
Information reveals that most of the jails in Haryana are already facing acute shortage of space to accommodate prisoners having number of prisoners in these jails more than the capacity since out of total number of 20 district jails in Haryana more than 14 jails are already over packed having 25837 prisoners against total capacity to accommodate 20638 prisoners. Moreover, jail staff in Haryana facing lot of inconvenience to handle such prisoners transferred from jails in Kashmir due to language problems since most of the prisoners migrated from Jammu-Kashmir unable to speak or understand any language other than Kashmiri. In case of Bhondsi jail Gurugram there are 2830 prisoners lodged in this jail against total capacity for 2412 prisoners which include nearly 100 female prisoners having six children inside the jail.
