Tehsildar, his reader arrested at Karnal in bribe case

Karnal: Team of the State Vigilance Bureau (SVB), Karnal, on Sunday arrested Gharaunda tehsildar identified as Nikhil Singla and his reader Gulshan allegedly demanding bribe for correcting the girdawari of a land. Gharaunda tehsildar was also having the additional charge of Karnal and Indri tehsils, Gulshan, the reader resident of Sector 7 in Karnal was nabbed by vigilance team in the presence of duty magistrate Anubhav Mehta SDM while accepting bribe for Rs 20000 at Nootmahal Chowk Karnal from Gulshan the reader of the tehsildar.

Both were arrested on the complaint of Vinod Kumar, a resident of Karnal. The police said they got a complaint regarding demand of bribe by the reader. Based on the complaint, they arrested the reader from Karnal in the evening while accepting Rs 20,000 from the complainant at the Noormahal Chowk as desired by alleged accuse. After the reader’s disclosure that he was taking money on behalf of the tehsildar, the vigilance team arrested tehsildar also from frim his residence at Karnal late in the evening. A case under Sections, 7, 7A of the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered in this regard and both will be produced in the court on Monday vigilance team said.
