Shahid Samarak’ near to completion will take visitors back to year 1857: Anil Vij

Talking to media persons Haryana Home & Health Minister Anil Vij said that Samarak being constructed in Ambala Cantonment in the memory of those unsung heroes who were martyred in the first war of independence in 1857 is almost complete likely to be inaugurated shortly. He told that history will be displayed in the best and lively manner in this Samarak and efforts in this Vij’s dream project have been made that people reach back to 1857 from 2022 when the bugle of independence was sounded from Ambala.

Vij was interacting with the media persons on Saturday afternoon after inspecting the Samarak being constructed on 22 acres of land on GT Road in Ambala Cantonment where history will be shown live in the Samarak. Vij said that the British always called the first war of independence a rebellion and tried to suppress history but our historians found many facts after searching and they have brought history to the light in this historic monument near to completion and the remaining work in the Samarak would be completed soon and the interior work would also be tendered in the coming week. It is expected that this will be completed soon and the Samarak will be opened for the visitors from all over the world.

Vij said, during inspection the issue of separate feeder and water drainage for the Samarak has been discussed with the officials and a letter has also been written to include the historian of Ambala in the team of historians that has been prepared to display the history in the memorial. A book has been written by the historian exposing many new facts acquired from a book written by an English author. He said, whatever information comes to us will be displayed in the Samarak significantly dedicated to the 1857 revolution being constructed in Ambala Cantonment.

During the inspection, Superintendent Engineer of PWD Sultan Kaushik, Superintendent Engineer of Irrigation Department AK Raghuvanshi, Executive Engineer Ritesh Agarwal, Executive Engineer Raj Kumar, Executive Engineer Ritesh Nandal, Executive Engineer Ranbir Tyagi, Architect Renu Khanna were present. Vij started inspection of the Samarak from the main entry and discussed with the officials about the works of horticulture inside the complex and directed that plant saplings should be planted according to a theme, which looks beautiful. 

Vij also discussed with the officials about the main entry as well as the parking area of the Samarak. He directed the officials that the construction of the parking area should be completed soon having a provision to park more than 400 cars and many buses in the parking area.Vij inspected the space earmarked for the helipad in the Shaheed Smarak on the rear side of the Samarak. During inspection, Vij discussed with the officials regarding water drainage and installation of power feeders. He said that the Shaheed Samarak is being built on 22 acres of land and in such a situation; there should be adequate arrangements for drainage and installation of a separate power feeder.

Anil Vij visited various areas of the museum in the Samarak to get information about the construction works in the Shahid Tower including museum, auditorium . shopping complex, restaurant and a fast food corner, children park and the construction work of Tower which is in the final stages and this work will be completed soon.
