SGPC demand action against those making provocative & hate speech against Sikhs

Amritsar, November 15 -The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has written to Commissioner of Police, Amritsar, demanding strict legal action against those who made provocative and hate speech against Sikhs

This letter was written by SGPC secretary Partap Singh, which was handed over to Amritsar Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Parminder Singh Bhandal. 

Secretary Partap Singh said that a video of a Shiv Sena leader namely Harvinder Soni from Gurdaspur calling Sikhs as terrorists and threatening to attack Sri Darbar Sahib has gone viral on social media. “Due to this provocative statement about Sri Darbar Sahib, the central Sikh shrine, there is a lot of resentment among the community members”, said Partap Singh in a statement to the media.

He said in another viral video a person namely Rahul of Amritsar, associated with Shiv Sena has threatened Sikhs of killing them. He said these statements can disturb the peaceful environment of Punjab, which has the tendency to break the mutual brotherhood of people living here, peace, law and order. 

The SGPC secretary demanded that strict legal action should be taken against these two persons by registering a case against them under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. He said it should be ensured that in future, if someone makes such hate speech, then the culprit is not spared.
