Seven arrested allegedly manufacturing fake cancer drugs

Team of crime branch from Delhi accompanied by central as well as Haryana state drug control departments arrested seven persons of a manufacturing company RDM Biotech started producing food supplements at Ganaur in Sonipat district about six years ago in 2016 after obtaining a license from Ayush department Haryana and after two years in 2018 started manufacturing drugs for the treatment of cancer disease under the same license in a famous foreign brand ‘Genowhey’ and gradually developed a network for the sale of fake medicines for the treatment of cancer not only in India as well as in abroad thus earning huge amount of money.

Among seven persons arrested by Delhi police were identified as a qualified doctor Pavitra Narain, Shubham Manna a qualified engineer, Prabhat a qualified MBA, Pankaj Singh, Akankhsha Verma, Ankit Sharma and Ram Kumar who had initially obtained license to manufacture Ayush food supplements and started manufacturing about 21 Ayurvedic products after obtaining license from Food & Drug Administration (FDA) also. During raid on a clue police team collected 20 bags raw material as calcium carbide and starch being filled in capsules instead of any useful chemical for the treatment of cancer disease. According to police information, there were only five workers in the factory and all types of mixing of chemicals being done by the seven themselves. Police seized raw material as well as capsule filling machines recovered from the site during raid and sealed the factory.

Information also reveals, surprisingly since after getting license neither any officer of the department ever visited this factory for inspection nor any samples of products manufactured therein were collected by the concerned departments in past six years and the racket of seven have been producing and selling fake drugs for the treatment of cancer under the license issued for manufacturing food supplement.
