CM urges Delhi residents to sponsor for free yoga class trainers

NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal released a WhatsApp number and appealed to people to sponsor the salaries of trainers who are conducting free Yoga classes under the government ‘s ‘Dilli Ki Yogshala’ programme on Saturday.

“Every Yoga teacher gets a salary of Rs 15,000; please contact us via WhatsApp at 7277972779 to indicate how many teachers’ salaries you wish to bear, the cheque will directly go to the teacher from your hands. Some people are willing to bear the whole cost of the free yoga program, but I find joint support from the public to be more plausible. We had aimed to give free yoga classes to 17 lac people of Delhi but the LG and BJP stopped even 17,000 people from availing free yoga. We have decided that together with the people of Delhi, we will not allow the yoga classes to stop under any circumstances, I will arrange the funds however I can but I will pay the teachers. We, the two crore people of Delhi, are one family; if we all fight together, then no difficulty coming our way will be able to harm us.”

CM Kejriwal said, “Why on earth would anyone want to stop yoga classes? It is a sin to stop yoga classes and deprive the citizens of Delhi their health.

He alleged that “Every other day, the Lieutenant Governor and the BJP, do whatever they can to hurt the citizens of Delhi. Every other day, there is a new attack on the citizens of Delhi.

He added that It is the Aam Aadmi Party that nurses the people of Delhi, and acts as their saviour. The people of Delhi treat me as their son and I work sincerely for the benefit of the people.  I was very saddened, when a few days ago, the LG and the BJP attempted to stop the yoga classes.

“These classes were organised to improve the health of our citizens and primarily assist those who were dealing with post -Covid complications. More than 17,000 people have so far benefitted from these classes. Our target was to get  17 lakh people to practise yoga under this program, but the BJP tried to snatch away this opportunity from the 17,000 people who are currently enrolled in this program. Salaries of these yoga teachers were held back and they were asked to not take any more classes. Why on earth would anyone want to stop yoga classes? The citizens of Delhi have been extremely angry with the BJP ever since this incident occurred.  It is a sin to stop yoga classes and deprive the citizens of Delhi their health. We received thousands of WhatsApp messages, asking for these classes to be continued. The people could not believe that a political party could stoop so low and obstruct yoga classes from being held in Delhi.”

I am very happy to see that the people are benefitting from these free yoga classes: Arvind Kejriwal

CM Kejriwal said, “Since the entire episode where the BJP tried to obstruct these classes, several people have come forward and said that they would like to contribute some money to let these classes continue. A couple of individuals have also come forward and said that they can bear the expense of the entire project. But we like the idea of these classes being contributory, and we would like to get contributions from as many people as possible. Today I am announcing a WhatsApp number. The Delhi Government pays Rs 15,000 to one yoga teacher for organising one class in the morning and one more in the evening. We do not want money from the people, but we want them to let us know if they are capable of bearing the expense that needs to be paid to either one or two or more teachers. We would like these persons to text us on this WhatsApp number and let us know how many teachers they can pay for, and we can perhaps directly connect them to these teachers, or we can take the cheque from these people and pay the yoga teachers.”
