Two gangsters arrested after brief encounter

Amritsar , December 1 – Police have arrested two alleged gangsters after a brief chase and cross firing in the Chehertha area of Amritsar here today.

Confirming the incident, Police Commissioner Jaskaran Singh said that there was information about the movement of few gangsters in the Inova car at Chehertha Area. On getting information, police swung into action, reached on the spot, and intercepted the Inova car.  On seeing the police, all the occupants of the car fled away in the thickly crowded bazaar in the Cheherta area.  After a brief chase, police located them hiding in the house, there was cross firing between police and gangsters. Two of them were arrested on the spot along with five pistols and live cartridges.

Singh said that initially, it would be difficult to tell how many criminals were in the Inova car but two of them were arrested. Various police teams have been dispatched to nab the rest of the accused.

He said that initially the name of the nabbed accused could not be revealed since it would hamper the ongoing process to arrest the rest of the accused.

He said that the arrested two gangsters were already facing various criminal cases. Rest of the details about them to be shared with the media after their brief interrogation, he added.
