Rs. 17 lac robbed from Punjab National Bank

Amritsar, December 19 – Two unidentified masked men robbed Rs. 17 Lakh cask from the cashier of Punjab National Bank at Kathunangal branch here today in the Majitha constituency.

Confirming the looting incident, SHO Police  Station Kathunangal, Jaswinder Singh said that two looters entered inside the bank, shown pistols to the Bank Cashier  and asked to hand over the cash.

Cashier on seeing the pistol, was scared and immediately handed over the cash Rs. 17 lac which was available on the cashier table, said SHO.

SHO said that no armed gunman was available with the bank at the time of crime. Looters had arrived in the bank on Activa scooter.  According to CCTV footage available with the bank the hands of looters were trembling at the time of crime.  The bank staff didn’t bother to use siren even when looters fled away from the bank.

One gunman of adjoining bank building having a common wall was also standing outside the bank but he was not aware of the crime, if the security alarm was used by the bank the looters could have been nabbed since the police station is just stone throw distance from the bank, SHO quipped.
